I have always known
that I don’t belong
To those creatures of night,
‘cause my nature’s too strong
Since I spread these wings
and felt I could fly
I have known I could leave
the night world behind
Can’t you see that I’m different,
a beauty of day
a colourful butterfly
finding his way
between tulips and daffodils,
sweet honey taste
without pleasure of sunlight,
my life is a waste.
O you precious light, you entice me so much
my wings long to reach for your velvet touch
I’ll approach your domain to ease my desire
to unite our beauties in endless fire
So my only desire is
to live in the morning
Never hearing the ugly moths
whisper their warning
Beware of the light,
it’ll do you harm
Our world is the night,
we’re not made to feel warm
In the distance a light,
it must be the sun
So I’m spreading my wings,
now my new life’s begun
hear the moths as they whisper
and laugh in my back
they don’t see my true nature,
this terrible pack
O you precious light, you entice me so much
my wings long to reach for your velvet touch
I’ll approach your domain to ease my desire
to unite our beauties in endless fire
I’ll approach your domain to ease my desire
to unite our beauties in endless fire
Goodbye to you dark world
that treated me wrong
Here I fly to you, daylight,
I’m coming along
How you’re warm, even hot,
how you’re sparkling so bright
I’m melting, I’m burning, I am heat,
I am light –
I AM LIGHT!
Great progressive rock from Rick Miller. Plenty of flute, vocal harmony, and strong guitar work. While many prog rockers are very uneven across their albums, Rick's characteristic songwriting approach never lets down but delivers a solid, consistent approach. Highly recommended! Dogger Dog
This and Heart of Darkness are my two favorite releases by Mr. Miller. From the opening track Rats in my Darkness the tone for this record is set. Very dark recording, yet still very listenable another strong release by this Canadian .Always a pleasure to support a fellow Canadian. lloydd
